Tooth # 2

Well, tooth # 2 came out. Actually, she pulled it out. It happened while she was brushing her teeth. I ran and got the video camera and got her pulling her tooth on tape. I will spare you the video.

Is it Christmas again???

This is what we woke up to on Thursday. Casey looked out the door and said, "Is it Christmas again?" (It snowed Christmas eve this year)
It snowed all day on Thursday: big, white fluffy flakes. I had to stop Casey before running off so that I could get a picture. Kathryn wasn't about to start running in the snow just quite yet. Her face shows her reluctance. Come to find out, Kathryn doesn't like her feet to be cold or wet.
Then she discovered that she could eat the snow. That was a hit. You can see the snow falling in the background. We couldn't believe that it did this all day long. We got out cups and shovels and make snow castles.

On Friday, the snow was still there and plenty to play with. All of the power was out in most of our city. Jeff did not have school so he and Casey made a great snowman. Too bad we didn't have any heat to warm them up when they came inside!

Remember when...

Remember when Kathryn would pretend to be Cinderella and clean the floors with a baby wipe? She is singing "Sing sing Nightingale", which is what Cinderella sings in the movie while she is cleaning the stone floors. Kathryn, on the other hand is saying "Clean, clean Nightingale". It really bothers her sister that she is not singing the correct words to the song.

Glasses

Well here they are. It's hard to tell from the picture, but they are purple wire frames. She has done a great job so far today keeping them on. Jeff calls her "professor". Casey told her that she really likes her glasses.

Cheer Camp

Elizabeth Toon was a Christian and a cheerleader at Highland Park who passed away when she was 21. The cheerleaders at that time began the Elizabeth Toon Cheer Camp for girls pre-k through 2nd grade. The proceeds go toward a scholarship for a senior. This is the 3rd annual cheer camp. Casey loved it...again.

They put all the pre-k and kindergardeners together in one group and taught them some chants, a cheer and a dance. One of the cheerleaders told Casey at FCA (see post below) that the music was going to be Hannah Montana. Casey has no idea who that is.

I don't know what activities she will want to do when she gets older, but for now, this is fun.

These are 3 of the current FCA officers: Liza Yates, Kate Doviac, and Alexa Vincent.

At the end of the showoff, the girls got to go around to the cheerleaders and get their autograph. They had a picture to sign of all the cheerleaders, but Casey preferred her shirt to be signed.

This is a video of the dance. Casey is in the front just to the left of the center line (as you are looking at them). Hard to see her but fun to watch.

FCA

Jeff is the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) sponsor. They meet twice a month at an officer's house. Lately we have had at least 50 teenagers come. I make queso for them. Please notice there are plates for them to use, but they would rather dip straight into the crock pot.
The pictures really can't show how many kids are here. They are spilling into the back room and into the hallway. It's really inspiring to see these kids, who have a schedule full of commitments, take the time to come together to worship God.

And there is Casey right in the middle of it. She was locked into the singing. This is what we want Casey to see older kids doing. It gives us so much hope that there will be a good group of kids to associate with when she gets in high school.

Here is a short video of the kids singing. It might be a bit shaky...I have the phone in one hand and Kathryn on the other hip.

The Optometrist

We went to the eye dr for Kathryn today. I am thankful for toys to play with in the waiting area.

The nurse took a look at her eyes through a machine that had pictures of trees and birds. I guess she is too young to say which way the big E is facing.

I wasn't sure if she was going to actually sit in the chair without me having to sit there too. She did great. Notice that bear did not make the cut going to the eye doctor (for those of you that don't know...bear is a dear companion of Kathryn). Puppy was the friend of choice today.

Let the exam begin.
Of course, then it was puppy's turn. The doctor was so great about letting Kathryn have a turn to check puppy's eyes when he was finished with her.

The verdict:

The muscle in her right eye is weak, so we had to get fitted for glasses. We will go back in 2 months to see if it helped. If not...surgery.
